The Reality of Family Homelessness
Parents work hard every day to provide for their children, but unfortunately, many families in our area face homelessness and uncertainty about basic necessities like food and shelter. Shockingly, over 40% of the homeless population are families with children, and studies estimate that up to 2.5 million children in the United States are homeless. This means that one in every 30-50 children is without a stable home.
For children experiencing homelessness, there are additional challenges such as chronic health problems, academic and social struggles in school, and a high risk of being separated from their families. However, Family Promise offers a unique solution to help these families by providing a program that has a 95% success rate of graduating families into permanent housing. Unlike other shelters that may segregate families by age or gender, Family Promise keeps families together during the process. Our goal is to help eliminate the growing population of homeless families and give parents the opportunity to keep their families intact.
